Off to Jamestown NY after one rough week. Lucy and Desi to be visited by one huge fan. Lavenre frolicking in the country, well a backyard at least. Any type of grass is the country to her. And I am just going to breathe.

Something has changed within me, something is not the same,
I’m through with playing by the rules of someone else’s game.
Too late for second guessing,
too late to go back to sleep.
It’s time to trust my instincts, close my eyes, and leap.
It’s time to try defying gravity.
I think I’ll try defying gravity,
and you can’t pull me down.
Those of you who don’t know, the above is from the musical Wicked, which I highly recommend. Listening to it recently however, I’ve begun to rediscover all of the meaning in the lyrics. Not just in this one song, but others as well, and on many different levels.
I guess it would be pretty bad of me to do a blog entry today and not mention a certain someone. Momma!!! Happy Mothers Day Mom. Below is a video that I made for her last year. I can’t help but think though, how she is feeling today. For those who don’t know my grandmother (her mother) passed earlier in the year, thus making today the first mothers day without her in both of our lives. There will be numerous “firsts” this year when it comes to her, and I can’t help but wonder how I or the rest of the people who knew her will handle them. But for me, I won’t second guess things, I’ll trust my instincts, and leap forward with life carrying her spirit with me all the way.
Happy Mothers Day Mom, and to all the other, mothers, and grandmothers out there.
Every year around this time of year I always found it confusing that people suffer from allergies. Whats the big deal? It never seemed to bother me, and I must admit I never really believed in it. Well I’m a true believer now. The salon received a beautiful floral arrangement and we placed it at the front desk. Shortly after I started sneezing and my eyes and nose began to itch incessantly. After a while I began to feel miserable and deductive reasoning led me to the flowers. And since then, I have had a wonderful runny nose, (which is oh so pleasant on a NYC subway), along with itchy eyes, and nose. On today’s to do list, take a stroll down the allergy aisle.
Well apparently the vlogs are a hit. I will try and keep them coming.
Today I worked out in the the morning and worked a half day. I must say it makes Mondays just a little easier going in at 1:00 in the afternoon and leaving at 6:00.
Hope you enjoyed the tour. Check out our website at www.edrissalon.com
I received word from camp filo today that my mother has a new car. Upon looking at photographs of her in her new red mustang I’m immediately taken back to 9th grade sitting on the curb of the school parking lot waiting for her to come pick me up in what was our “family car” at the time, a red Pontiac Firebird. “That’s your mom’s car Fred?” Someone would holler. And I would say yeah….and get in quickly. “Mom why can’t you drive a grocery getter like every one else?” Alas I guess it wasn’t her style, and clearly still isn’t. Love ya mom, and great Rides!!!
