Hi-Ho, Hi-Ho It’s Off To Work I Go

Quick plug for the Apple Store.  Nothing like enjoying the warm temps with your blog and the store that helps create it.  I was sitting here and then all the sudden people started running into the store and lining up.  After packing up quickly, I too took a gander over to see what people were getting in line for.  Turns out, the iPhones are in stock.  Apparantly they’ve been out.  Unexciting, I was hoping for something free.

Seems we skipped spring, and went on to summer with a high of 80 today.

Dentist was early this morning thus creating time in between to blog in the new plaza in the meat packing industry.  The place we dare not speak use to be right across the street.  Chelsea Market on the other side full of people planning for parties and such.  And I am in the middle waiting to go to work.  What fun.

I’m A Cry Baby

Went and saw a preview performance of the new musical Cry Baby.  And of coarse by new we mean a stage version of the film.  If I had seen the film I would probably enjoy the musical more, but any musical is fun.  Jim has been on a broadway tour lately.  Last week he saw Avenue Q, and yesterday he saw Grease in the afternoon, and then we saw Cry Baby last night.  Just another reason why we would miss New York if we were to move.  There goes those spur of the moment trips to the theater.    A sunday morning full of chores to do.  Wish I hadn’t  given the maid the day off.   7 days of no habbit, technically 4, but one doesn’t count does it?

FLU

laverne vlog Ah there’s nothing like lying in bed for 36 hours surrounded by tissues, with a Ny-Quill high.  I have not been this sick in an extremely long time.  Still not completely over it.  The video above, the calm before the storm. But now I can at least walk around, just not to fast otherwise the room may start spinning.   Let’s hope that I’m well enough to get on a plane tomorrow.  Off to hoosier land to see little Fred get married.  The last of three…at least in my eye, but then again, it may be the Ziacam, Robitussin, Ny-Quill, Mucinex speaking.

A Week of Supers

Today is Super Bowl Sunday, Tuesday is Super Tuesday.  Honestly I’m more interested in Tuesday.  Going to Liza’s to watch the bowl game tonight, and see what kind of disaster awaits when Ryan Seacrest hosts a red-carpet for a sporting event.  Can’t wait to see what tux Tom Brady is wearing.  Who knows what’s next? In four years voting booths across the country with red carpets and blog reporters at each voting location.  Interviewing what designer each voter is wearing.  Stella McCartney?  Ralph Lauren?  Maybe a Kathie Lee original.   Till then come Tuesday I’ll pull a Sharon Stone, and wear something from the GAP.

Hard to believe one year ago today, I said my final good-bye.  Goes so fast, but other times so slow.

I Think It Pisses God Off When The Color Purple Closes and People Don’t Notice It.

Ok, so maybe people are noticing  that The Color Purple will soon be closing it’s doors.  I guess when you have a producer such as the mighty Oprah, it’s hard not to.  But in case you hadn’t, I thought I would mention it.  I’ve actually seen this show twice.  Once, with LaChanze as Celie, and then again with Fantasia from American Idol playing Celie.   Both were good, and I was actually surprised that I liked Fantasia, because I was not a fan of hers on American Idol.   But if I had to pick who I liked better, would have to be LaChanze.  Sad to see this show go.   Not only for the wonderful music, characters, and unlike the movie, true to the book script, but also for the fact that it has exposed musical theater to a whole new audience.  Both times I saw this show, you can’t help but notice the large African American audience members getting off of buses from around the country.  Church groups, schools, community organizations, men and women, young and old, all have traveled near and far to see this show.  You can’t help but wonder if it is their first.   If so, let’s hope there will be another that moves people they way this one did, to keep returning to the theater to see a variety of lives and situations performed live on the stage.
